Romagna on the road: the Consorzio at Prowein for its first trip of the year

The Consorzio Vini di Romagna is gearing up for its first international event of 2024. From March 10th to 12th, it will be participating in ProWein in Düsseldorf alongside eight associated wineries from Romagna.

For 30 years, ProWein has been one of the leading expos for wines and spirits, thoroughly covering the global market. With over 5,000 exhibitors from around the world, tens of thousands of international buyers will be on the lookout for new vintages, seeking trendsetting discoveries with the aim of bringing novelties to their increasingly curious consumers.

The Consorzio will also manage a double desk featuring a display and wine tasting showcasing wines under the collective consortium brands Novebolle and Rocche di Romagna, provided by the participating wineries. Novebolle is a project that stems from the rediscovery of Romagna's early 20th-century sparkling wine production, shedding new light on a valuable product, Romagna DOC Spumante, by valorizing a historic grape like Trebbiano and promoting an innovative version of Sangiovese.
The collective brand Rocche di Romagna brings together the sixteen "subzones" of the Romagna Sangiovese appellation, aiding the recognition of the production process and encouraging consumer engagement with the Romagna Sangiovese experience through a territorial imprint, leading to the discovery of areas of great enotouristic interest, new landscapes, and different cultures.

Furthermore, the Consorzio Vini di Romagna has been selected by ICE with the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy among the 12 Italian protection consortia to serve DOP wines from their territories at the VIP evening of the Meininger Awards scheduled for March 9th, on the eve of ProWein. Another piece of good news is that two Romagna wines - both Romagna Albana DOCG - have been selected in ICE's TOP 100 Italian wines, thus being involved in some of the numerous masterclasses in the fair's debate space, to educate industry professionals from all over the world about great Italian wines. These are the renowned dry Albana Vitalba 2022 from the Tre Monti winery in Imola and the Albana passito Volo d'Aquila 2020 from the Cantina Forlì-Predappio.

"Despite the global sales challenges facing the industry, the 2024 edition of ProWein is kicking off on an optimistic note for our wines, highlighting the attention that Romagna DOP wines have rightfully garnered" shared President Roberto Monti. "Albana and Sangiovese are increasingly becoming key players in Romagna's winemaking landscape, leading the charge for a diverse array of regional indigenous wines that are poised to make a global impact".
