Romagna Stories 2021 - Federica Piersimoni

Romagna is a house you never knew you had, a land that is not just a balcony on the Adriatic. These are the Stories of Romagna. This is Romagna by Federica Piersimoni (@federchicca)

Romagna is a place to which it is impossible to say goodbye. You just can't. We limit ourselves to a goodbye, and then we open ourselves to the possibility that nostalgia can peep out at any moment, especially when we feel distant from home. Because Romagna, for those who know it or will come to know it through this itinerary that winds through glasses, tables and landscapes, is a new home that you never knew you had. This year, seven young influencers, gastronomes, sommeliers and travel bloggers discovered the soul of this land by traveling along the Via Emilia and in the Romagna hinterland, finding a place they can call home and return to whenever they miss it.

We thank Federica Piersimoni (@federchicca) for taking part in this journey and we share her Stories of Romagna 2021.

Wine trip in Romagna to discover lands and wineries

In October, together with the Consorzio Vini di Romagna, I was a guest in my region, Emilia Romagna. It would seem almost ironic, but it is: in so many years of travel, I have had very few opportunities to explore the places near my home. Australia was beautiful, as were Japan, Polynesia and Canada (without forgetting California and everything in between), but even a few tens of kilometers from home I felt like I was traveling. I felt like I was on a very special journey, where I knew so much about the products and places, but where I had never really been physically.

The Consorzio Vini di Romagna accompanied me for three days among vineyards, wineries and iconic places and Unesco heritage sites to let me discover a little bit of Romagna. But who is the Consorzio Vini di Romagna and what does it do? Since 1962, the Consorzio Vini di Romagna has brought together 7 cooperative wineries, 103 wine producers, 6 bottlers and 5,200 wineries registered in the DOC and DOCG vineyard registers. What the Consortium does specifically, works to enhance the products of the Emilia-Romagna region, in particular the wine sector.

Given that in three beautiful days, loads of things I did / saw / ate and drank were so many, I will try to tell and report them as I lived them, dividing them by themes. However, a clarification is necessary: the places I suggest here are not the only ones possible, they are just a few suggestions. I will not fail to mention addresses and dishes or labels that I particularly liked, but like any good self-respecting trip: take and go, get lost and discover. Only in this way will the journey be truly yours!
