To reflect on the events and milestones of this
remarkable year, we’ll let our President, Roberto Monti, share his thoughts:
“2024 has been a year of great achievements,
but also great challenges – as it often is when working with the land and its
fruits. Nothing comes easily.
We’ve carried the wines of Romagna across the
globe, taking part in
major industry fairs and hosting seminars for trade professionals in
Stockholm and Copenhagen. Both cities embraced our work with curiosity and
enthusiasm. In New York, we had the privilege of leading a masterclass
organized by Wine Enthusiast, an exciting opportunity to showcase our
wines to an international audience.
While we’ve ventured far, we’ve also opened
our doors here at home – the heart of everything we do. This
year’s 19th edition of Vini ad Arte brought journalists from more
than 10 countries to explore our subzones, while the
Circuito di Vino tours welcomed hundreds of industry
professionals to Romagna’s wineries. These events have once again proven
the power of collaboration in showcasing the best of our region. Meanwhile, Novebolle brought a spark to the Riviera,
making summer celebrations even more vibrant.
The harvest was demanding but ultimately
rewarding.
Unpredictable weather pushed our growers to their limits, and ripening patterns
varied significantly across grape varieties. Deciding on the ideal harvest
times for optimal ripeness was no small task. Even so, 2024 turned out to be an
excellent year for white grape varieties – especially early-ripening ones – and
a very strong year for Sangiovese as well.
Looking ahead, 2025 is shaping up to be another
exciting year. We’ll continue to invest in promoting Romagna wines, with
both international events and local initiatives designed to elevate the
reputation of our region, celebrate its rich winemaking traditions, and
highlight its innovative spirit – all while honoring our deep respect for
nature and heritage.
Next year will also mark a significant
milestone: the 20th edition of Vini ad Arte. We’re already hard at work to ensure this
anniversary is not just a preview of the vintage but a true celebration of our
wines, our history, and the people who bring them to life.
We see the challenges ahead as opportunities –
chances to deepen our commitment to quality and to position our wines as true
ambassadors of Romagna around the world.
On behalf of the Consorzio Vini di Romagna, I
want to thank all of you for your support, collaboration, and friendship
throughout the year. Wishing you a joyful Christmas and a 2025 filled with
peace, prosperity, and exciting new achievements.”
